I can sure sense a different attitude around the company this year. For the most part the change has been for the better. I have been noticing better safety habits throughout the company. Our management team and employees are pulling together and are showing a genuine concern for their own personal safety and those they work with. Our frequency of accidents is down as is our size of claims. This is a very positive trend for us. However, keeping our guard up is absolutely necessary. Keep a look out for each other and we’ll do just fine. I have also noticed some negativism. I hate seeing this. It’s not what we are about at this company. Hopefully you haven’t received this from me. Things aren’t that bad! Sure, overall we are having a down year. I see the work picking up for us and I would say we have lots of work to finish in October. That’s a good problem to have. Our bidding prices still remain extremely low to beat the
competition. Last letting, I will have to tell you, we got quoted
$10.00 per ton-mile on trucking for a job. Shoot, we were getting
paid that in 1980! We’ll still need our trucks! We have proven to ourselves that we are the most reliable source of hauling available. If our crews are to produce up to maximum productivity, we must have the material delivered in a reliable manner. This company was started from a trucking operation. It is our heritage to be trucking. We put many resources of people and equipment in our trucking department. We run some of the best equipment out there. Our team does a great job supporting our projects. It remains our goal to be the best trucking company out there and we will continue our tradition. For many of the new employees that have not read our past
newsletters, I invite you to go back to the old letters and read “Junie’s
Jabbers” (see the next article to read one of Junie’s earliest
“Jabbers” and Continue your good safe work habits. |
