From all the comments routed back through the Brooklyn
office, it seems that Adventureland was a hit again. The
weather couldn’t have been more perfect for July and the
food lines moved very quickly. It worked well having
food lines served from both the Palace Theater and the
Festival Grounds. The long wait that we have had in some
years was reduced drastically.
We had over 2,250 employees in the park that day. I’m
fairly certain this was the largest portion of the
park’s population for Sunday. It seems like anywhere you
were that day you ran into someone you recognized.
I thought we would be feeding over 1,700, but as the
count goes, we served about 150 less. It was the first
time we have had this much of a discrepancy in our meal
count. This means that the Manatt Companies paid for
many meals that were not eaten. I’m not sure exactly
what we need to do in the future to avoid this, but we
need to somehow do a better job on our meal ordering.
I would like to thank Carolyn Hotzel and Justin
Gathercoal for the entertainment. I always love hearing
Carolyn play the piano and Justin, 12, delighted
everyone with his expert drum solo. We should have not
been surprised, as he has won in the Bill Riley Talent
Contest. It is fun to watch our employees present their
talents. I hope we can coax some others to join in the
festivities next year.
My thanks personally go out to Emily Delaney, Julie
Maxfield, Karen Kopf, Dorinda Wooldrik, Holly Collison,
Kim Campbell, Sue Zimmerman, Sandy Durr, Sheri Leisure,
Carolyn Hotzel, Shellie Johnson and Judy Ochs for
funneling down the ticket orders through their offices.
For those of you in the sister company offices, your
help with the ticket count is very appreciated. I’m not
sure how we could do it without you.
A special thanks goes to Mary McDonald, along with her
friends, for her help with the kid’s games both before
and during the outing.
Word came from the Adventureland staff that our day at
the park ran the smoothest of any so far. I’m sure the
great weather must contributed. The prize giveaway was
even completed within a short time with lots of happy
winners (winner list to be published at www.manatts.com
- check it out!)
Thanks to everyone for making this a great outing. Hats
off to the owners and managers of Manatts, Wendling,
Pelling, Marquart Block, United Concrete, Basic
Materials, Illowa and Aspro for their continued support
of this fun-filled, family-oriented festivity. Thank you
seems so insignificant compared to your kindness. |
