Steve Patterson was hired in 1978 as a mixer driver in Newton.  Brad Manatt promoted
him as the Ready Mix plant manager in 1980 which he worked very diligently at for several years.  In 1987, he decided to go on the road as a foreman with our Milling Division.  He milled many roads across Iowa and other states.  Steve started having some medical issues relating to his diabetes and left Manatt’s in 1991.  He returned to work for Manatt’s in the fall of 1997 when Al Ross hired him as a ready mix driver in Newton.  In late 1998, Manatt’s acquired a ready mix plant in Colfax and Steve was named plant manager of this plant in the spring of 1999.  He also worked in the shop at the ready mix plant in Newton during the winter doing yearly maintenance on the mixers in the area. 

    Steve was also well known for taking great care of the equipment and facilities he worked with.  He took great pride in keeping it in top-notch condition.  Steve also had the respect of the local contractors he worked with and always seemed to “squeeze” things in during the day for them.  Steve will be missed by many.
